Christine A. VanAelst's Obituary
Christine Ann VanAelst, age 67, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, July 7, 2017. She was born August 25, 1949 in Muskegon to Raymond and Frances (Blair) Bowne. On March 22, 1969, she married David A. VanAelst in Muskegon at St. Jeans Catholic Church. Christine was employed and became CEO of Sealed Power / Family Financial Credit Union and finished her career as Vice-President of My Personal Credit Union in Grand Rapids. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Women’s League, Muskegon Elks #274, Vikings, and was also active at the Knights of Columbus. Christine was cherished by her husband, family, friends, employees, and all who met her. She was a beautiful, welcoming, kind soul with a pure heart who was an amazing entertainer and made everyone feel at home. Heaven definitely gained an angel. The party in heaven began with a bang with the storms that blew through on Friday morning. She doted on her children, grandchildren and guests with her amazing culinary skills and pancakes shaped in their names. The Hostess with the Mostest will be missed dearly. SURVIVORS include her husband of 48 years, David of Fruitport; 3 children: Melissa (Don Camp) Nienhouse of Norton Shores, Mark (Kim) VanAelst of Melbourne, FL, Joel (Trisha Minnaar) VanAelst of Norton Shores; 8 grandchildren: Taryn (Jeremy), Andrew, Brianna, Tess, Makayla, Mikey, Bradley, and Ryan; 5 brothers: Robert (Karen), David, James, Paul (Tami), and Tom (Lisa); 4 sisters: Linda (Bob), Nancy, Catherine (John), and Lisa (Ed); many loved nieces and nephews; her Aunt Dee; and a host of life-long friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. THE FUNERAL MASS will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Dave Gross presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 5-8 PM Monday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 and also one hour prior at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Harbor Hospice Foundation or the International BioCare Health and Wellness Center (biocarehospital.com).
