Chrystal G. MacLaren's Obituary
Chrystal G. MacLaren, age 98, widely known to many, including non-family, as “Grandma Mac”, went Home to be with her loving Lord and Savior on November 18, 2021 in Twin Lake, Michigan. She was born on March 11, 1923 in Barryton, Michigan to Earl and Ethel Butcher. Chrystal was a member of Cornerstone Free Methodist Church in Holton, Michigan for nearly 80 years and faithfully served as Sunday School Superintendent for 30+ years. After her children were grown, she worked as Food Service Supervisor at Holton Public Schools for many years prior to retiring. Serving God, others, and her precious family were her top priorities. Chrystal’s favorite pastime was playing board games, and she was very competitive. Many were the hours she sat around the dining room and kitchen tables with her grandchildren tirelessly playing one game after another. She married Dorville MacLaren, and he preceded her in death in 1984. SURVIVORS include, seven children: Charity (Richard) Baker, Lillian (Lowell) Winans, Earl (Mary) MacLaren, Cecil (Sharlene) MacLaren, Gayle (Jim) Casteel, Dorville (Deb) MacLaren, Shirlee (Dave) Bond; 30 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lorraine MacLaren and Marcia MacLaren Hubbard. Chrystal was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred (Grace) Butcher, Floyd (Genevieve) Butcher, and Thane (Arwilda) Butcher. Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Cornerstone Free Methodist Church (8833 Holton Rd. Holton, MI 49425)
