Cindy Lou Mitchell's Obituary
Cindy Lou Mitchell, 65, of Muskegon, passed away Jan. 3, 2022. She will be remembered for many things, not the least of which was her fierce love for her “Jimmie” – her high school sweetheart, husband, and lifelong love – and that for her daughters, Teal Shannon, of Detroit, and Mindy Marie, of Muskegon, granddaughter, Olivia Lexus, and nephew, Tim.
Born on Nov. 28, 1956 to Adolph F. and Louise (Bradley) Ruffilo, Cindy, a 1974 Mona Shores High School graduate, married James Mitchell Jr. on Aug. 28, 1976. A devoted mother and aunt, loving sister, and loyal friend, Cindy – who always had a smile on her face – was known for her strong family values, frequent words of wisdom, and passion for the color purple.
A perfectionist in the kitchen and with the sewing machine, Cindy’s Italian pork chops and roasts were as legendary as the Halloween costumes she made for her girls. Puzzles, crosswords, and games were her frequent pastimes. The former Texas resident considered the state a second home and looked forward to her visits there.
Cindy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother-in-law, Michael Bradford.
She is survived by her daughters, granddaughter, and sisters, Colleen Bradford, of Texas, Jackie Wheatbrook (Tom), of Indiana, nephews Tim Bradford, and Kevin (Renee) Wheatbrook, Kevin’s daughters, Macy and Ella, Nicole and Dave Snyder, niece Suzanne (Ted) Jarka, and the Jarkas’ daughter, Audrey, and son, Grant, and a large, beloved, extended family, including several cousins.
Cindy will be greatly missed. The family plans a future Celebration of Life.
