C. Kenneth Rop's Obituary
Mr. C. Kenneth Rop, age 89, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 3, 2006. He was born February 11, 1917 to Jacob & Jennie (Kruis) Rop in Muskegon where he had been a life long resident. On March 14, 1941 he married Ruth Dalson. He worked for forty-one years at Sealed Power where he was a set-up man, and in his spare time voluntarily worked for the Sealed Power Credit Union.
Kenneth was a life-long member of Allen Ave. Christian Reformed Church. He retired at the age of 60 and relaxed in his retirement years, especially when he went to Gulf Shores, Alabama for three months every winter. Kenneth enjoyed his family and cared about all their interests, whether it was sports or school activities. He also loved to fish and play golf.
Surviving him are his wife, Ruth; three special sons, Kenneth J. (Carolyn) Rop of Virginia, Larry (Mary K.) Rop of North Muskegon and Dr. Ronald (Mary A.) Rop of Norton Shores; eight grandchildren, Alexa (Oscar) Roeder, Brandon (Aimee) Rop and Kathleen Rop, all of Virginia; Dr. Tim (Cheryl) Rop of South Carolina, Dr. Eric (Susan) Rop of North Muskegon, Kristi (Chris) Pawlak of Indiana, Sarah (Paul) Schmude of Traverse City and Rhonda (Joe) Fitzsimmons of Grand Rapids. He leaves fourteen great-grandchildren, Stacy, Krystal, Zachary, Alexander, Annalise, Adam, Roan, Luke, Tyler, Garek, Celestyn, Charlie, Ben and Margo. He also leaves four sisters-in-law, Harriet and Retta Rop, and Dorothy and Helen Dalson, and several nieces and nephews. Kenneth had two brothers and three sisters who preceded him in death.
SERVICES will be 1 PM Wednesday at Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church (695 Allen Ave.) with Rev. Robert Bierenga officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION with Kenneth’s family will be 2-4 & 6-8PM Tuesday at Sytsema Funeral Home
