Clara Isabelle Kartes' Obituary
Mrs. Clara Isabelle Kartes, age 93, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Muskegon, Michigan. She was born in Manistique, Michigan on December 8, 1923 to Harry and Ellen (Chartier) Holstrom. Clara had worked at Continental Motors and Johnston Technologies for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a former member of St. Jeans Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and had been active in several church organizations. On May 4, 1946, Clara married William Kartes in Muskegon and he preceded her in death in 1987. She is also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Camilla Holstrom, Elouise Herron, Marie Bourdon and three brothers, Gus Holstrom, Harry Holstrom, Jr., and Harold “Buck” Holstrom. Clara will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (239 West Clay, Muskegon 49440) with Rev. Fr. Matthew Barnum presiding. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Monday, May 15, 2017 at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., 231-759-8565 with the ROSARY prayed at 5PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
