Clara C. Lyons' Obituary
Clara C. Lyons, age 97, of Grand Haven passed away Sunday, February 25, 2007, at a local care facility. Born December 16, 1909, to Frank and Christine (Meierdirks) Garbrecht in West Olive, she married John Lyons on January 14, 1928, in Holland. He preceded her in death on September 24, 1968.
Mrs. Lyons was a lifelong resident of the Tri-Cities area and was employed as a receptionist for Dr. Frankie Kieft. She was a member of Grand Haven Gospel Chapel and the Grand Haven Senior Center. She enjoyed needlepoint, crafts, crocheting, gardening, and doing volunteer work.
Mrs. Lyons is survived by 2 daughters, Lorraine Neitring of Grand Haven and Ruth Ann (Jim) Jensen of Bellefontaine, OH; 2 sons, John (Shirley) Lyons, Jr. of Baldwin and Dale (Valerie) Lyons of Frederick, MD; a daughter-in-law, Crystal Lyons of Grand Haven; 21 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Ernest (Henrietta) Garbrecht of Grand Haven, Carl (Gertrude) Garbrecht of Holland, and August (Mary) Garbrecht of West Olive; and a sister, Christine Stone of Spring Lake. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Lyons; a grandchild, Henry Neitring; a brother, Julius Garbrecht; 2 sisters, Louise VanKampen and Frances Dykman; and a son-in-law, Albert Neitring.
The service for Mrs. Lyons will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Grand Haven Gospel Chapel with Rev. Ken Shady officiating. Friends may meet the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in Lakeshore Cemetery.
