Clarence A. Vanas' Obituary
Clarence Allen Vanas, age 88, passed away Thursday morning, September 21, 2017. He was born May 24, 1929 in Chicago to William and Margaret (Connelly) Vanas. Clarence was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War where he was stationed in Germany. He served his country from February 8, 1951 until February 3, 1953. On July 31, 1964, he married Helen “Joyce” Kline in Muskegon. Clarence worked for 38 years at Howmet before retiring and was a member of UAW Local 1243. He enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. SURVIVORS include his wife, Helen “Joyce” Vanas of Muskegon; daughter, Darla (Kirk) Olivier of North Carolina; 2 sisters: Lorraine Smith of Tustin, MI, Lenore Gydesen of Luther, MI; brother-in-law, Donald Kline of Muskegon; sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas A. Vanas in 2010 and 2 brothers: Pete and Bill Vanas. A GRAVESIDE SERVICE for Clarence will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Pine Hill Cemetery in Fruitport, MI. Memorials to Christian Care of Muskegon or the Alzheimer’s Association will be appreciated.
