Clarissa W. Wheeler's Obituary
Clarissa W. Wheeler, age 92, went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 15, 2014. She was born in Muskegon on November 29, 1921 to Albert and Johanna (Wenting) Stegink, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. On June 20, 1947 she married Gerald Wheeler. Clarissa was a secretary for the Muskegon Board of Education at Angell School and worked as an administrative secretary at Hackley Hospital. Upon retirement she and Gerald volunteered their summers at Center Lake Bible Camp in Tustin, MI. She and Gerald spent over 30 winters in Florida, where they warmly worshiped at Fort Meade Baptist Church. Beginning when she was a child, Clarissa enjoyed singing as well as playing both the piano and the organ. She served with these gifts at her church, Lakeside Baptist, as a member for 63 years. SURVIVORS include her husband, Gerald; 3 children, Jerry (Andrea) Wheeler of Cadillac, MI, Patricia (Dennis) Sciba and James (Kathleen) Wheeler, of Norton Shores; five grandchildren, Jerrod Wheeler, Andrew (Carli) Sciba, Matthew Sciba, D.J. Wheeler and Travis Wheeler. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Stegink. A CELEBRATION of Clarissa's life will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at Lakeside Baptist Church, 2250 Denmark St, Muskegon, MI 49441, with Jerry Wheeler and the Rev. Leslie K. Lew officiating.
