Mr. Clayton Leon Viereck's Obituary
Mr. Clayton Leon Viereck, age 74, passed away Friday afternoon, September 8, 2017 at a Grand Rapids hospital. Clayton was born February 16, 1943, in Sioux Falls, SD to Walter Paul and Irene (Karsbergen) Viereck. Clay was a Muskegon High School graduate. On September 22, 1962, he married the former Sandra Kay Hansen in Muskegon and she survives him. Clay worked as machine operator at Sappi Fine Paper (S.D. Warren) for more than 30 years prior to his retirement in 2006. Earlier on, he worked at Ott Chemical for 10 years. Clay enjoyed playing cards, trips to the casino, golf, taking care of his yard, his cars, watching the Detroit Tigers and his 3 grandsons play hockey, and spending time with his family. In addition to Sandra, his wife of 54 years; he is survived by his children, Michelle (Bob) Homfeld and Todd (Amy) Viereck; 5 grandchildren, Tara, Leah, Logan, Ben, and Gavin; and a brother, Rick (Gail) Viereck of Canton, SD. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Viereck. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE VISITATION will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100.
