Clement J. Skeba's Obituary
Mr. Clement James “Clem” Skeba, age 98, passed away in Spring Lake on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. He was born in Cedar, MI on November 17, 1917 to Frank and Sophie (Flees) Skeba and moved to the Muskegon area in 1941. Clem was a veteran of the United States Army. He had worked as a tool grinder and group leader at Continental Motors for 44 years before his retirement. Clem was a founding member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where he served faithfully as an usher. He was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans and a life-long member of the Polish Falcons where he served as past secretary and treasurer. Clem was raised on a farm, he enjoyed the sunshine on his face, and he enjoyed working outdoors. For 65 years, he maintained an immaculate yard and garden. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and he was an avid cross-country skier. On May 29, 1941, Clem married the former Dorothy Peplinski and she preceded him in death on December 14, 2006. He is survived by his four children, JoAnn (James) Christensen, Robert (Maureen) Skeba, Sandra (Roger) Katt and Carol (David) Johnson; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Hylland, Julie (Nate) Spahn, Christine Skeba, Rhonda Fisher, Carly Silk, Kimberly (Michael) Condella, Danielle (Jeff) Starke, Hiliary Johnson, Alyssa (Josh) Paauwe, and Jared Johnson; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Clem was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Thomas and Ronald Skeba; one brother, Edward Skeba; and two sisters, Alice Adams and Grace Skeba. His MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. William Langlois presiding. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Friday, February 19, 2016 at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., 231-759-8565. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Clem’s name may be made to the Muskegon Catholic Central Education Fund or Muskegon Kids Food Basket. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Clem’s family would like to express a special “thank you” for the wonderful care he received over the past five years at American House.
