Clement George Gilbert's Obituary
Mr. Clement George Gilbert, age 91, passed away Sunday morning, May 11, 2008, at the Harbor Hospice-Poppen House, following a brief illness. Clem was born February 22, 1917, in Detroit to Walter and Irma (Curtis) Gilbert. They moved to Muskegon when Clem was an infant. He was a 1934 graduate of Muskegon Heights H.S. and received his Bachelor in Business degree from Albion College. On November 7, 1941, he married the former Edna May Kampenga. Clem served his country during WWII obtaining the rank of First Lieutenant. Until retiring in 1986, Mr. Gilbert co-owned Daniels Office Supply. Throughout the years, he was a member of the Town Club, Muskegon Lions and Muskegon Elks Lodge 274. He was an avid golfer and belonged to the Pontaluna/Oakridge Golf Clubs. Also an avid snow-skier, Clem was a long time member of the Caberfae Ski Club. Survivors: wife, Edna; three children, Jacqueline “Jackie” Pyka of Vail, CO, Sharon “Sharie” Swinson of Norton Shores and Bruce (Linda) Gilbert of Norton Shores; and five grandchildren, Stephanie, Angela, Jaime, Brett and David. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday at Lake Harbor United Methodist Church, 4861 S. Henry St., Rev. Mark Erbes officiating. Visitation: Wednesday, 6-8 P.M. at:
