Mrs. Cleomae Koekkoek's Obituary
Mrs. Cleomae Koekkoek, 98, stepped into Heaven Sunday, September 5, 2021, in Norton Shores. She was born April 24, 1923, to Bert and Nelle (Tanis) Zandvliet in Muskegon and was a lifelong resident. Cleomae worked in the office at Superior Oil for 30 years before retiring in 1986. She was a member of Forest Park Covenant Church where she belonged to a Bible Study Circle. She also volunteered at First Congregational Church. On October 27, 1943, she married Harold “Curly” Koekkoek, and he preceded her in death on November 29, 1991. Survivors include six children: Mary Jo Mersman, Randy (Sue) Koekkoek, Patti (Bob) Ritcheske, Bob Koekkoek, Lisa (Doug) Hale, Amy (Kreg) Brace; 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren (soon to be 36). She was also preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren: Kyle Ritcheske and Chad Mersman; and two sisters Arlene and Evelyn. A service to remember and celebrate her life will be held Saturday, September 11, at 11:00 AM at Forest Park Covenant Church (3815 Henry St., Norton Shores 49441). Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The service will be livestreamed and can be accessed at the Forest Park Covenant Church YouTube Channel. Masks are recommended for the service, but are not required. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Koekkoek may be made to the Harbor Hospice Foundation or the Muskegon Rescue Mission.
