Clifford R. "Bud" Jones' Obituary
Clifford R. “Bud” Jones, 92, of Bailey, Michigan went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bud was born in Ensley Center, Michigan on October 14, 1932, to the late Bert and Mable (Stevens) Jones. Bud married the late Irene L. Jones on August 29, 1952, in Grant, Michigan. They were married for 55 years before she went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2008. They loved to dance, listen to polka music, travel, camp and cook great food. Bud is survived by their four children, Denise (Gary) Smith of Georgia, Mark (Nancy) Jones of Comstock Park, MI, Dennis (Patricia) Jones of Crawfordville, IN, and Farin (Rhonda) Jones of Grant, MI; his 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents and nine siblings. Bud volunteered and served his country in the Army for 18 years. He was devoted to the Lord and was a faithful follower. He was a member, as well as an Elder, of Bailey Church of Christ. After retiring from Keeler Brass, Bud and Irene became passionate about serving at Love Inc. since the opening in 1987. They volunteered 5 days a week for many years. Even after Irene passed, he continued to volunteer and help his community. He made so many wonderful friends who were like family. Bud made it no secret how much he loved to hunt, fish and camp. He never turned down any fishing trip. He was a very quiet and competitive fisherman and would never let you see how many fish he was actually catching. He didn’t want to share that sweet spot full of fish! He would be so elated to take all the gills he caught and have his fish fry with his friends at LOVE. In the wintertime you could almost guarantee he would be on the ice in his shanty spearing pike. Up until last year, Bud was still hunting on his son's property with his crossbow and rifle. He never missed and his smile was always brighter after he got a nice buck. Over the years there have been a multitude of camping trips with kids and grandkids. So many memories have been made around campfires with cast iron fried fish, and stories. A CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Bailey Christian Church, 17635 Pearl St., Bailey, MI 49303.
