Clifford "Sonny" R. Rolison's Obituary
With incredible sadness in our hearts, we report the passing of our dad, Clifford R. “Sonny” Rolison, on Friday, May 29th, 2021 at the age of 80. He was born on March 23, 1941 to Clifford and Mildred (Hogan) Rolison in Muskegon. Cliff was a skilled carpenter who worked building numerous bridges across the state for many years. Eventually he went on to work for Northern Boiler through Carpenter’s Local 100, until a workplace accident ended his time there.
On June 3, 1978 he married the former Marilyn Eklund and together they spent 40 happy years until her passing in April 2019. To say he was an avid outdoorsman is an understatement, he WAS the outdoors. Hunting and Fishing were a huge part of his life from age 5. And he was successful at both, even more than most. He liked telling jokes (some were even funny!), Playing cards (he cheated a lot!), watching sports (as long as it was football!), and listening to good old country music (good is in the opinion of the listener!). But first and foremost, he loved his family and friends. He was a son, brother, father, husband, uncle, and grandpa but to everyone who knew him he was a friend. He would do anything for anyone and was always willing to help out. He put them above all else every day of his life, especially his kids and grandkids. Except November 15th (opening day of rifle deer season) and April 24th (opening day of trout/steelhead season), those days were for him. We said he WAS the outdoors.
Clifford is survived by his children, Larry (Jennifer) Rolison, Kris Rolison, Clifford (Jennifer) Rolison, and Richard Aumiller; his grandchildren, Dan, Brittany, Ericka, Shawn, Madison, Lacey, Quinn, and Harper Rose; his great grandchildren, Harley, Daphne, Abigail, Barrett, and Bethany; sister, Doris Barnhard; brothers, Leslie (Sharon) Rolison, and Lynn Rolison; many nieces and nephews, in laws, and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Marilyn Rolison; son, Robert Aumiller; and grandson, Gunner Aumiller.
A Celebration of Life for Clifford will take place on Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at The Lee Chapel of The Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444. Burial will take place in Moorland Township Cemetery. Feel free to sign the family’s online guestbook and share a memory at www.sytsemafh.com.
Until we see you again Dad, GONE FISHIN’.
