Mr. Clinton C. Coombs, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Clinton C. Coombs, Jr., 87, passed away Tuesday evening, June 23, 2015 in Muskegon. He was born September 3, 1927 to Clinton C. and Vassie (Davis) Coombs, Sr. in Denver, CO, and moved to the Muskegon area from Dayton, OH in 1997. Clinton was a WWII U. S. Army veteran, and was an electrical engineer for the U.S. Air Force until his retirement in 1983. After retirement he enjoyed water color painting and reading. He was a member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church in Dayton. On October 11, 1952 he married Janet R. Morner, and she preceded him in death on August 29, 2010. SURVIVORS include 2 children, Alan (Phyllis) Coombs of Muskegon, Marilyn (Lincoln) McLane of Lansing; 5 grandchildren, Laura (Nick) Black, Eric Coombs, Maria (Christopher) Ford, Amber (Joshua) Boyce and Julia McLane; 1 great-grandson, Ian Black; 1 sister, Patricia Hillock of New Mexico. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter Rebecca Coombs; 1 brother and 1 sister. The funeral service for Mr. Coombs will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 27, at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210, with Pastor Paul Burmeister officiating. Burial will take place at E. Dalton Oakhill Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday.
