Colleen Kay Hickman's Obituary
Our beloved Colleen Kay Hickman (Paul), born April 4, 1946, passed away gently into the loving arms of her Savior on December 17, 2014. She leaves an unmatched legacy of love in those who survive her including her children, Dean Hickman, Heidi and Nat Henson, and Shannon and Matt Goebel; grandchildren, Abbie (7), Nora (3), Henry (1), Maxton (1), and Baby Goebel; sister, Tammy Hickey; and nieces, Kim and Kurt Minko (Kathy, Konnor, Kennedy and Kelsey) and Amy and Dave Gootjes (Hayley and Collin). Colleen is also survived by countless life-long, dear and treasured friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Royden and Joann (Harjer) Paul. Colleen lived a life of service to others, working as an x-ray technician for over 30 years. She retired into her most celebrated role: that of Nana. She was the epitome of love, tenderness, and fun that few grandchildren ever really get to experience. To her friends, she was a confidant, a memory-maker, and an angel. To her children, she was a hero who lived by faith, taught self-sacrifice, joked about the silliest of things, and embodied love. It is our great privilege in this life to be Colleen’s children. We intend to live each day striving to be worthy of the gift that she was. Her MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, December 22, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church – Spring Lake, with Rev. Fr. David Gross presiding. VISITATION will be from 5-9 PM Sunday, December 21, 2014 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 and 1 hour prior to her service at church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Colleen’s memory may be made to help in researching SCAD – Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection. Envelopes will be available or you may donate online at www.scadresearch.org
