Constance "Connie" Curtis' Obituary
Constance “Connie” Mary Curtis, age 64, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Trillium Woods Hospice House in Byron Center. She was born November 6, 1945 in Grand Rapids to Walter and Hilda (Hansen) Curtis.
Connie was an active member of the United Methodist Church of the Dunes and was involved with the church’s mentoring program and Mary’s Circle, among many others. She had served on the board at United Way, American Red Cross, First Priority of the Lakeshore and spent time volunteering with a local reading program for kids. Connie was a real estate appraiser for Simmer Associates and had previously worked as an agent for Clyde Hendrick.
Connie is survived by 2 children, Curt (Sue) De Witt of Palatine, Illinois and Kristen (Andre) Gauri of Grand Rapids; 5 grandchildren: Kathryn, Maya, Geoffrey, Caroline, and Ella. She is also survived by 1 brother, Walter (Virginia) Curtis of Taylor, Texas, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Alan (Sarah) Curtis.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the United Methodist Church of the Dunes with Rev. Daniel Duncan officiating. Visitation with Connie’s family will be held 3-5 and 7-9 PM Wednesday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Memorial contributions may be given to the United Methodist Church of the Dunes or the American Red Cross.
