Cora Lee Long's Obituary
Cora Lee Long, age 83, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024. She was born May 3, 1941, in Augusta, Georgia to James and Cora (Gay) Kimberly. On September 1, 1961, she married Claude Long in Georgia, and he preceded her in death on September 11, 2003. Cora worked as a classroom aide for the Oakridge Public school system until her retirement in 2003 and following retirement, Cora volunteered in the Mercy Hospital gift shop. Cora was small with a strong will and a feisty quick wit. She was not easily fooled and was known to call’em as she saw them. She had a love of pop music from the oldies up to the most current pop charts as well as junk food and casinos. Cora always said that her three biggest hates were chicken, chicken, and chicken. Cora is survived by three children: Don (Darla) Long, Mike (Pam) Long both of Muskegon, and Angela (Jon) Marvin of Holland; six grandchildren: Ryan, Chris, Kevin, Blake, Danielle, and Tony; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy (Ellen) Kimberly of Florida; sisters-in-law: Donna, Barb, and Sue; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Sanctuary at the Oaks staff and residents as well as Harbor Hospice for all of their care and support. SERVICES for Cora will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, August 1, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Egelston Twp. Cemetery. MEMORIALS to the Harbor Hospice Foundation will be appreciated.
