Cornelia DeYoung's Obituary
Mrs. Cornelia “Connie” Grace DeYoung, age 97, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident. Above everything else she loved her Lord and Savior and was a wonderful example of a Christian woman. She was the heart of her family, an ever-loving mom and grandma. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with them. She loved reading, games, puzzles, knitting dishcloths to give away, and watching the Tigers. She was a faithful member of Hope Reformed Church. She was born in Muskegon on March 18, 1925 to William and Adriana (DeMan) DeRuiter. On October 17, 1947, Connie married Abel “Abe” DeYoung Jr. and he preceded her in death on November 21, 2009. She is survived by four children, Patricia Pederson of Muskegon, James (Kathy) DeYoung of Portage, David (Dennese) DeYoung of Muskegon, and Joni Long of Grand Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Rebecca (Jon) Epplett, Dawn (Jerry) Showers, Cheryl (Ben) Brooks, Tim (Candie) DeYoung, Cynthia (Jason) Fuller, Philip DeYoung, Andrew (Kaitlyn) DeYoung, Marissa DeYoung, Chris (Lisa) Long, Kevin (Ericka) Long; and seventeen great-grandchildren. Connie was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; seven sisters; and son-in-law, Charles Pederson.
