Cornelia "Connie" N. Malda's Obituary
Mrs. Cornelia “Connie” N. Malda, age 81, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, March 1, 2010, at her home. She was born February 12, 1929 in Muskegon to Cornelius and Minnie (Milkamp) Rop; and had been a life resident of the area. Prior to her retirement, Connie had been employed at GTE and Am Store; and then became a volunteer at Hackley Hospital for eleven years. She was a faithful member of First Christian Reformed Church where she formerly served as President and Bible Leader for the Ladies Bible Study. Connie also served as a volunteer for many years on the Banquet Committee of Western Michigan Christian High School. On October 20, 1948 she married William Malda and he survives her along with 4 children, Sharon (Phil) DeWall of Muskegon, Bob (Ruthie) Malda of Holland, Dan (Barb) Malda of Middleville and Jim (Barb) Malda of Muskegon; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Jason (Loretta) Rop of Muskegon; 2 sisters, Tressa (Richard) LaFayette of Muskegon and Jean (Daniel) Larr of Spring Lake; 1 sister-in-law, Doris Rop of Spring Lake; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Dena) Malda of Muskegon, Ben Malda of New Era, Betty (Willard) Hewitt of Muskegon, and Helen Malda of Whitehall. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Rop, sisters, Doris and Delora Rop and by her sister-in-law, Ruth Malda. SERVICES will be 11 AM Friday at First Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Mike Borgert officiating. Private graveside services will be in Restlawn Cemetery. VISITATION with Connie’s family will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442 (231-726-5210). For a more lasting memorial you are asked to consider Muskegon Christian School or Western Michigan Christian High School.
