Cornelius Gene "Corky" Lach Sr.'s Obituary
Cornelius Gene “Corky” Lach, Sr. age 87, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Trinity Health Hospital Muskegon. He was born May 10, 1937, in Grand Haven to Peter and Sophia (Zmuda) Lach. He married Karen Beckering on August 31, 1957, in Grand Haven. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2017.
Corky served his country in the Army. He was a longtime faithful member of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28 in Grand Haven. Corky worked for close to fifty years at Johnston Boiler, retiring as a boiler engineer. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping and traveling.
He is lovingly remembered by his three daughters: Elizabeth “Beth” (Jancer) Shelton, Michelle Tharp, and Debra (Mark) Dressel; his son, Cornelius “Corey” Lach, Jr.; six grandchildren: Byron (Jessica) Larson, Brandon (Heather) Dressel, Kayla Hogan, Eric Dressel, Cody Hogan, and Justin Dressel; five great-grandchildren: Anzlee, Eli, Porter, Ashton, and Elliot; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his six sisters and three brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2024, at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Dan Schumaker as celebrant, and military honors provided by The Charles A. Conklin American Legion Post # 28 Honor Guard. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment will be in Lake Forest cemetery. Memorials to St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church are appreciated.
