Casey has been a friend since Mom introduced him to our family. His zeal for life and living to the fullest was infectious.
Casey had a broad range of interests, continuing to learn throughout his life. I think his mission for learning kept him “young at heart”. Casey would discuss what he learned, weaving new understanding into conversations while giving a different perspective or understanding or point of view.
Casey’s use of words captured my attention. He was articulate. He was able to explain complex concepts in an understandable manner, conveying ideas with word-shaped pictures. Casey’s kindness meshed with his capacity of language. The harshest word I ever heard Casey use was “schmuck”.
Casey would offer advice, but only when asked to do so. I have always valued his opinions because they were carefully thought out and contemplated. I admire Casey’s thoughtfulness: he planned his words so as to address the topic while being careful to not offend or threaten or demean anyone.
Probably foremost in my many memories of Casey is his love for children and family. Casey delighted in the birth of babies and so enjoyed watching children grow. He held interest in children throughout their lives. His deep love for family was inspirational.
Casey’s enthusiasm, intellect, compassion and beliefs are deeply missed. He remains with me through his sharing of ideas and the kindness of his heart. Casey enriched my life. His enduring love and kindness are treasured. I dearly love this soul-filled man and that will last forever.

The Nebbeling family have been in my life for over 50 years, as Sally was my best friend in High School; we enjoyed orchestra together, double dating and many adventures. Maintaining a family has been a strong value throughout our lives. In 2015, when visiting Sally, Doug and Casey, one evening we played cards, Casey won the game. He always had an eager mind to learn. Other days on my visit, Sally and I visited with the rest of the family members living in the area, such fun and fond memories. Casey was certainly a cherished father and grandfather.
