I was so sorry to hear when our fellow nursing student, Jan, told me of Corky's passing. We were classmates at MCSN, Class of 1957. Corky roomed across the hall from me in old Elmwood Annex. There was always laughter coming from Corky's room. She was a sweet, generous, popular student. I spent a few weekends with her when she invited me to her home which proved a much welcomed break from school. Her family welcomed me with open arms and a fun spirit. I recall Corky's father teasing us and Corky taking me to a lively going-away party for one of her attractive male friends who was leaving for a minor league baseball farm team. I cannot remember his name, but I often wondered if he ever made it to the major leagues, and if so, for what team he played for? I am especially sorry Corky died before we had a chance to reunite with each other and reminisce with friends about our old nursing school fun times, of which there were many. Several of the girls visited our cottage at Hubbard Lake, MI for the last couple of summers. Corky was supposed to join us, however, I am sorry to say, she was too ill to come. We missed her and were hoping to see her this coming summer. Corky was a wonderful, kind, joyful person with much enthusiasm for life. She will be missed. I will always remember her with love in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family.
