Dr. Corrinne Erickson-Strand's Obituary
Dr. Corrinne Erickson-Strand passed away at her home on November 3, 2025. Born in Muskegon on August 8, 1931 to Selmer Strand and Marie (Gronvold) Strand. Corrinne graduated from Muskegon Heights High School, Western Michigan University B.A., University of Michigan M.A. (Psychology/Early Childhood). While teaching elementary at the Muskegon Heights schools she continued her education at the University of Michigan achieving her Ph.D. (Psychology/Reading). After retiring from teaching in Muskegon Heights, she joined the Department of Defense and continued her love of education, teaching in Germany, Italy, Turkey, Spain, South Korea and lastly Japan while teaching first grade at the age of 80 upon retirement. She possessed a thirst for knowledge. Even in her final days she would spend hours on her computer searching for a cure for old age. Corrinne enjoyed traveling, numerous bridge games a week as well as euchre and domino games. Active member of the Muskegon Museum of Art docent volunteer, Muskegon Yacht Club. She was always on the go volunteering, playing cards, cooking but always made time for shopping and recently keeping the Amazon drivers busy. Surviving; her daughter Lynne (Larry) Larsen, sons Thomas (Lorraine) Erickson, Tracy Erickson, grandson Brian (Chris) Erickson. She was proceeded in death by her parents and sister’s Barbara Nedeau, Mary Dunbar, Phyllis Zuidema Hooper, Ruth Ann Lulofs. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made to the Muskegon Museum of Art or the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence.
