Covell H. Olsen's Obituary
Mr. Covell H. Olsen, 91, passed away and went to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Poppen Residence. He was born on October 26, 1922 to Holger and Sophie (Christensen) Olsen in Coral, MI. Mr. Olsen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. First and foremost was his passion for the custom tailoring business. He was co-owner of Remwolt Cleaners and Tailoring. He loved gardening, and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He traveled to Frankenmuth, Michigan yearly to enjoy the Bavarian Festivals. He was a member of the CAM club (Couples Around Muskegon) and enjoyed ballroom dancing. He was also a member of the Elks and Dry Cleaners Association of Michigan. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS McCook during the invasion of Normandy. He will always be remembered as a gentleman who never spoke an unkind word to or about anyone. He was a loving devoted father and husband who will be dearly missed by his children and entire family. On November 14, 1947 he married Ruth Remwolt in Muskegon and she survives him along with 4 children, Dennis V. (Charlene) Olsen of Crown Point, IN, Nancy C. (Phillip) Smith of Grand Haven, Larry Olsen of Muskegon and Dawn (Dr. Ivan) Landan of Spring Lake; three grandchildren; Maria (Olsen) Pickell, Katie Landan and Kristie Landan; one great-grandchild and brother, Phillip Olsen of St. Claire Shores. Mr. Olsen was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Olsen of Pontiac. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church (3225 Roosevelt Rd.) with Rev. Mark Gilson officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior at church. Burial will take place at Norton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church or Harbor Hospice - Poppen Residence would be appreciated.
