Curtice H. Hearns' Obituary
In Loving Memory of Curtice H. Hearns (1934–2024)
Curtice H. Hearns, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, left this world on July 11, 2024, surrounded by family. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday, and his life was a beautiful tapestry of love, laughter, and adventure.
A Life Well Lived:
Curt loved competitive sports, especially basketball, and his nickname “Dirty Curty 33” captured his playful and competitive side. As a high school star in football and basketball at Clare High School, he gave his all on the court and field.
On June 21, 1958, Curt married Kay Blystone, and their love story unfolded over 66 remarkable years. Together, they danced through life—literally! Their graceful moves were the envy of any ballroom or dance floor. They traveled to the Caribbean, skied out West, and basked in Florida’s sun during countless winters.
Beyond the 9-to-5:
Professionally, Curt was a mechanical engineer, having graduated from Ferris State. He dedicated nearly 30 years to Dow Chemical, which led him to Ludington, Michigan. The lakeshore living, friendships, and community in Ludington became an integral part of their lives. As an avid athlete he loved their active life playing tennis and golf with friends at Lincoln Hills Country Club. He also loved racquetball and boating. As a downhill skier and member of the US National Ski Patrol, he taught his family to ski, turning snowy weekends into cherished memories.
Family Ties:
Curt’s legacy lives on through his children: son Kevin (married to Linda), daughter Kristi (married to Charlie), and daughter Kerry (married to Michael) and their 5 grandchildren. Their laughter echoed through the house, amplified by the lively grandchildren—Daniell, Keaton, Dylan, Kiera, and Mackenna.
A Final Farewell:
Curt joins his parents, Curtice E. Hearns and Delores Kuhlman (Rassat), in the hereafter. His sister Barbara Krell and brother-in-law Robert Krell await him there. May Curt rest in peace, forever remembered as a beacon of love and connection.
To Curt, the final buzzer has sounded, but the echoes of his spirit will resonate in our hearts forever.
Planning is in motion for a Celebration of Life to honor his full and blessed life.
