Cynthia A. Barefoot's Obituary
Cynthia Ann Barefoot, age 71, passed away in Muskegon, MI, on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Cynthia was born in Indianapolis, IN, to Edward and Juanita (Klop) Wilhelms on September 30, 1953. Her family moved to Muskegon when she was young, and she graduated from Mona Shores High School. She worked over 35 years at Muskegon Cable TV/Comcast, retiring in 2017. On April 7, 1984, she married Larry Barefoot, and the two of them spent 25 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death in 2009.
Cynthia was an active member at Lake Harbor United Methodist Church for many years, working in their office part time for some years and also helping with coffee every Sunday. She loved to be active in her community, especially helping with events for the Shrine Circus and the Muskegon Thunder and singing with the Lake Harbor Sister’s Choir. She enjoyed baking breads and pies, watching her many birdfeeders, and many annual trips to West Virginia for white water rafting. Cynthia was a strong-willed woman who liked to help out where she could.
Cynthia will be lovingly remembered by her son, Tony (Jenna) Flannery; two grandchildren: Bretyn and Jadyn Flannery; one great-grandchild, Graesyn Flannery; brother, Tybo (Mary Jo) Wilhelms; and two nephews: Andrew (Valerie) and Jason (Sarah) Wilhelms. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister in-law, Debbie Wilhelms. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held for Cynthia at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Lake Harbor United Methodist Church, 4861 Henry St, Norton Shores, MI 49441, with VISITATION taking place an hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Noah Project or Mission for Area People.
