Cynthia D. "Cindy" Shaver's Obituary
Cynthia D. “Cindy” Shaver, age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 8, 1946, to Mitchell and Clara (Corradin) Olejarczyk in Muskegon, Michigan, where she remained a lifelong resident. Cindy graduated from North Muskegon High School with the Class of 1964. She went on to attend Ferris State University, earning her Bachelor of Science degree. On January 28, 1967, she married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Shaver Jr., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Muskegon. Together, they shared 59 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Cindy dedicated over 20 years of her career to Muskegon County Community Mental Health, where she specialized in information technology before retiring in 2013. She was known for her strong work ethic and commitment to helping others. She had a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors. Cindy especially enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and taking peaceful walks. She took great pride in maintaining her health and was a devoted fitness enthusiast, often spending time at Neal Fitness Center. During the quieter winter months, she found joy in working on puzzles. Cindy also valued staying connected to her community. She generously volunteered her time helping organize and support North Muskegon High School Class of 1964 reunions, maintaining lifelong friendships along the way. Above all, Cindy cherished time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband, Bob Shaver Jr.; three sons, Robert “Rob” (Kathleen) Shaver, Michael Shaver and Kevin (Mary Kay) Shaver; seven grandchildren, Shannon (Christopher) Turner, Joseph Shaver, Charles Shaver, Sylvia Shaver, Kyra Shaver, Aiden Shaver and Gavin Shaver; two great-grandchildren on the way; sister, Donna Wunsch; niece, Emily (Dan Brown) Wunsch; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Olejarczyk; and brother-in-law, Richard Wunsch. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with visitation one-hour prior. Memorial Contributions in Cindy’s honor can be directed to the Big Lake Humane Society.
