Mr. Cyril A. Braeckeveldt's Obituary
Mr. Cyril A. Braeckeveldt, age 93, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 9, 2013 in Muskegon. He was born March 4, 1920 to Louis and Louise E. (Gley) Braeckeveldt in Chicago, and moved to the Muskegon area in 1936. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, worked for the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department for 26 years, retiring in 1983, belonged to the F.O.P., and was a volunteer for the Muskegon Twp. Fire Department for 15 years. Mr. Braeckeveldt enjoyed wood-working and wood carving. On May 29, 1942 he married Angie Rozeboom, and she preceded him in death on October 12, 1993. SURVIVORS include 2 children, James (Sherry) Braeckeveldt of Goetzville, MI, Judith (Kent) Eistedt of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Arthur M. Braeckeveldt; 2 brothers, Louis and Arthur; and 1 sister, Marie Jacob. SERVICES will be 3:00 PM Saturday, July 13, at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 2500 E. Laketon Ave., with Rev. Marvin Wassink officiating. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, (231) 726-5210, will be from 4-7 PM Friday, and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
