Dale Hill's Obituary
Dale Hill, age 80, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Woodland Creek Manor. He was born May 15, 1945, in Muskegon to Willis J. and Dorothy R. (Grant) Hill and lived most of his life in the area. He graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1963. Dale served in the U.S. Army from August 1963 to August 1966, where he served in Germany for 2 years, and then 6 months in California. He came out of the service as a Staff Sargent 5. He worked for 40 years as a machinist for Sealed Power Corp (Dana and Mahl) and retired in 2005. On December 28, 1963, he married Barb Jones in Muskegon. He was a former member and trustee of Grace Lutheran Church in Baldwin, MI. He was a member of the Amvets, the Fruitport Eagles and served as a trustee of Peacock Township for a time when living in Baldwin. Dale leaves his loving wife of 62 years, Barb Hill; 1 son, Jim (Jennifer) Hill; 4 grandchildren, Amber (Brian) Lawrence, Brent Hill, Jeff Hill, and Jared Hill; and 6 great grandchildren, Mikel, Maylee, Taylynn, Baya, Tyler, and Jack; 1 sister, Sarah (Guy) Gibbs; and 3 stepsisters, Darlene Miller, Charlene VanderStelt, and Beth (Jim) Rouse; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Hill; his parents; and grandson killed in combat, Specialist Anthony “Tony” Cardinal. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444, with Rev. Jeremy Errickson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Monday and 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Military Honors will be offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Honor Detail from Michigan Army National Guard at the graveside service on Tuesday at Egelston Township Cemetery.
