Dale A. Slater 's Obituary
Dale Albert Slater, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2020 at The Poppen Residence. He was born on August 8, 1933 to Rhine and Jeannette (Bouman) Slater in Muskegon. Dale proudly served his country in the United States Army. On June 24, 1955 he married the love of his life, the former Marilyn Brink and together they spent 64 happy years together. He owned Slater Sunoco gas station for over 12 years and then went on to work for the Muskegon County Road Commission as the Equipment Superintendent for 22 years until his retirement in 1996. Dale enjoyed working on cars, woodworking and he had a great passion for horses. He will be missed by all who knew him. Dale is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Slater; children, Chris (Dee) Slater, Kim (Curt) Rypma; grandchildren, Reka, Lydia, Conner, Colin, Kayce; nephews, Alan (Cheryl) Slater, Ross (Marianela) Slater; niece, Gayle Slater; and faithful companion, Chen. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Bob (Marie) Slater. A FUNERAL SERVICE for Dale will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 11:00 AM at The Lee Chapel of the Sytsema Funeral & Cremation, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444. VISITATION will take place one hour prior to the service. For a more lasting memory donations in Dale’s name can be made to either Hope Reformed Church or the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
