Mr. Dale B. Townsend's Obituary
Mr. Dale Bradford Townsend, age 90, passed away Thursday, February 07, 2013 in Muskegon. He was born in Hesperia on August 5, 1922 to Lyle and Alma (Maynard) Townsend and had lived in Muskegon for most of his life. Dale was a master electrician and had owned Dale Townsend Electrical Contracting as well as being employed by Sealed Power for 35 years before retiring in 1974. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in 4 major battles, including the Battle of the Bulge, during WWII. Dale was a member of the Muskegon and Grand Haven American Legion and volunteered for Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed bowling, salmon fishing, hunting, and gardening. He is survived by 6 children, Dale A. (Kathy) Townsend, Donald “Joe” (Bobbi) Townsend, Linda (Clarence) Gundy, Debra (John) Carlyle, Janis Morris, and Gayle (Roger) Scanlon; 2 step-daughters, Betsy Floyd and Pam Palmer; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and loving companion, Ednamae Giangrande. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Ardis Townsend; his parents, 2 brothers, Bill and Richard Townsend; and 1 sister, Dorothy Wierenga. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Rev. John Brown officiating. MEMORIALS to Harbor Hospice or Sanctuary at the Oaks – Alzheimer’s Unit would be appreciated. Burial will be in Mona View Cemetery.
