Mr Dan Edward Klairter's Obituary
Dan E. Klairter, age 77, passed away unexpectedly February 13, 2018. Dan was born on November 2, 1940 to William and Goldie (Sutton) Klairter. Dan attended North Muskegon High School and then Michigan State University. Dan married Linda Gauthier on August 11, 1962. After college Dan returned to Muskegon to take over his family business, the former Beerman’s Music Inc., until his retirement in 1998.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife Lyn in 2009. Upon Lyn’s passing, he was fortunate enough to find love and companionship with Dionel (O’Toole) Toth. They married in 2010. Dan was truly blessed in that he had two loving marriages during his lifetime, to two exceptional women.
Dan was an active sportsman who enjoyed the outdoors. He loved spending time at his cottage “Disizdaplas” in Baldwin. As a young father he coached his sons’ baseball teams and developed a pee-wee league for Norton Shores. Dan remains the reigning Miss Saint Francis. He truly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He was fond of fly-in fishing trips for walleye and speckled trout as well as hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. Dan was a member and mentor for the Greater Muskegon AA and helped others for over 20 years. He was supportive of his grandchildren and he could always be spotted in the stands or the audience watching their events. Everyone who knew Dan knew that he had a passion for telling lengthy stories and bad jokes.
Dan is survived by his wife Dionel (O’Toole/Toth) Klairter of Muskegon and his three sons, Todd Klairter of Muskegon, Troy (Joann) Klairter of Grandville and Trent (Jennifer) Klairter of Muskegon as well as his grandchildren Madisyn, Zachary, Chase, Grant, Jackson, Spencer, Evan and Hailey Klairter. Additional survivors include Dionel’s children Jim (Sheri) Toth, Dionel Toth, Mary Kay (Richard) Gorajec, Eric Toth and Chip (Lynn) Toth as well as grandchildren Danny, Zac, Kyle, Melanie, Tom, Dionel “Peanut”, Robby, Henry, Halley, Collin, Natalie, Rachel and Elise.
THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 2929 McCracken, with Rev Fr. Charles D. Hall presiding. Visitation will be at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100, from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, followed by a scripture service at 8 PM.
