Dana Albert Taylor's Obituary
Mr. Dana Albert Taylor, age 72, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Muskegon, Michigan on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on May 2, 1953 to Albert and Joann “Karleen” (Loomis) Taylor. Following graduation from Mona Shores High School, Dana enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Unfortunately, just two days before he was to depart, he was struck by a car and unable to serve. Though he carried that disappointment throughout his life, he was immensely proud of his son for serving in the Marines. On May 22, 1976, Dana married the love of his life, Viviane J. Hofacker, in Muskegon. Together, they raised their family and spent 46 wonderful years in Fruitport, Michigan. Most recently, they moved to Whitehall, where Dana found great joy being outdoors, overlooking his yard and ponds, and watching the wildlife that came to visit. In his younger years, Dana loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed working with his hands, fixing things, building, and working on cars. Above all, Dana was a devoted family man. He cherished his wife of 49 years, took deep pride in his children and their spouses, and absolutely adored his grandchildren. Dana also had a special place in his heart for his dogs; his late companion, Winnie, and his new dog, Luna. He is survived by his wife, Viviane; two children, Derrick (Farrah) Taylor and Danielle (Chad) Reed; seven grandchildren, Austin, Logan, Dyllon, Isabella, Mollie, Taylor, and Zoey; two sisters, Diane (Lyle) Kops and Debbie (John) Ulmer; and three brothers, Dallas Taylor, Dennis (Betty) Taylor, and Darrin Taylor. SERVICES will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Fruitport Community Church, 9 S. 8th Ave., Fruitport, Michigan 49415 with Pastor Donna Rick officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service. MEMORIALS in memory of Dana may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.
