My deepest condolences to the family of Dan Meyers on his passing. I met Dan at WSCC when I took his course in music appreciation, and later interned for him during the summer. He was a kind soul and had a wonderful passion for music. I picture him singing with the angels with a big grin on his face.
Having completed an A.A degree from Muskegon Community College in earlier years I had the privilege, later in life, being under the directorship of Dan. His cordiality, patience, and sense of humor, as well as outstanding musicianship standards, made my experience as a Hornist in his band total bliss, pure joy. My codolences to Melissa and your beautiful family.

After being a student and friend of Dan’s for about 4 years, I have learned so many important things I will hold with me forever. But one of the most important things I will always remember is to always be genuine to myself and others. Dan was one of the most kindhearted educators I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. No matter what kind of day it was, he was always cracking jokes to make everyone in the room laugh. Dan was always genuine to his students and colleagues, and that is something that has shaped me into the person I am today. I will take the kindness and sincerity he has taught me and continue to pass it on for him. To the family, you are in my thoughts. My sincerest condolences to all family, friends, students, and anyone that his kindness touched.
I am a resident near Round Lake. While I never knew Dan I could hear his wonderful rendition of Taps playing at sunset on numerous occasions. It was a very cool thing to hear and made me stop and appreciate the moment.
