Daniel "Dan" C. Spira's Obituary
Daniel C. “Dan” Spira, age 81, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on November 5, 1942 in Muskegon to Fred and Karna (Stolt) Spira. Dan served in the U.S. Marines from 1961-1971 and the Army National Guard from 1984-1995. He worked for SD Warren for many years as a journeyman pipefitter. Dan attended Bridge Bible Church and the Marine Corps League #703. He and his wife Johanna “Jody” enjoyed traveling the country for 12 years in their 5th wheel, staying at military bases nationwide. Dan loved family, golf and was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers. On December 27, 1965, he married the former Johanna “Jody” Sischo in Florence, AL. Jody survives him along with three children son, Danny (Mae) Spira and children, Ryan, Adriel, Rory, Scott, Kaylie, Tierzah, Adelina, Kristin, Ari, Arion, Travis and Rai; daughter, Becky Spira and her children, Joshua, Justin and Hannah; daughter, Deannie (Yosef) Johnson and their children, L.A, J.T. and Dallas; along with many loved great grandchildren; twin brother, Donald (Sandy) Spira; sister-in-law, Avis (Bill) Spira; and many loved nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Karna; brothers, Kenneth (Mary) Spira, Frederick “Fritz” (Marva) Spira, Dick (Karen) Spira, Bill Spira; along with sister, Florence (Herb) McEntaffer. Memorial Services for Dan will be 11 AM Saturday, August 10, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Memorial Contributions to Bridge to Life Ministries will be appreciated. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery.
