Sending prayers & peace to the Guzek Family. Mr Guzek was my Middle School Band Director at Fruitport - Go Blue! He was a very nice man, who had alot of patience with us young 7th graders He made Band more fun, Thank you Mr Guzek for some wonderful memories. I also had the opportunity of seeing him again, when I was employed at American House. He was a resident there & I happened to work at his building he lived in. He remembered me & I was very touched. To me he was the same Mr Guzek, very nice & polite.. His name "The Goose" fits him so well! I am very sorry for your loss.

Dan fitted me for an instrument in 4th grade at Spring Lake, and was a part of my musical life for the next 30 years. He was an enthusiastic supporter, always quick with a smile of welcome, a joke and a laugh. He was also helpful when I was looking for a teaching job, and had a part in two positions I was able to secure. With his listening ear and his astute observations, he was a good friend to me and many of my colleagues in the band world. I look forward to seeing him again ~ Who knows what he's up to, up there? Love to him and to his family ~ You are surely missing this wonderful man, and I know he loves you very much.

I met Dan when I joined the Coast Guard Festival back int he early 2000's. He was a staple in the Grand Parade and was the Chairperson for the Carnival. I loved working with him and chit chatting from time to time when time allowed. Thoughts and prayer to the family - he truly was a GENUINE PERSON.

Goose was the first person I met in my new band director job in 1985. Without his help and advice I never would have survived much less thrived. He was the most honest and forthright person I ever knew. Incapable of telling a falsehood even when it might have benefited him. He had the respect and friendship of some heavy hitters. John Zdechlik, Fred Nyline, he even knew Neil Kjos and Bruce Pearson. Always there to lend a hand and share a story. He was the last surviving member of “The Quartet”. Iykyk. RIP friend. My condolences to his family, especially Quentin and Tiffany, who he never got tired of bragging about!

So sorry to hear this. “Mr Guzek” was my middle school band director at Fruitport. He made band fun and encouraged all of us, all this while enduring the God-awful noise we produced at that age. Much later in life we asked him to lead The Exports alumni band and he was gracious enough to accept. It was great to share beers with him afterwards. An all-round great guy.
