Daniel Leroy Holcomb's Obituary
Mr. Daniel Leroy Holcomb, age 91, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026 in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born in Muskegon on March 2, 1935 to Brenton and Myrtle (Hollar) Holcomb. Dan was a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force. He enlisted at the age of 17 and served as a Flight Engineer on a B-26 Marauder during the Korean War. He later served during the Vietnam War aboard C-123 and C-47 aircraft prior to his honorable discharge. On November 5, 1955, Dan married the former Avis Myshrall in Washburn, Maine. They shared 69 years of marriage before her passing in 2025. Following his military career, Dan was employed by MichCon Gas for 23 years before retiring in 1995. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church and had been a Friend of Bill W. since 1967. Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and traveling with his wife, Avis. He is survived by three sons, Brenton (Alice) Holcomb of Marquette, Michigan, Robert (Mary Ann) Holcomb of Bitely, Michigan, and Richard (Patricia) Holcomb of Plattsburgh, New York; seven grandchildren, Samuel (Viktoria) Holcomb, Daniel Holcomb, Joseph (Brittany) Holcomb, Erin (Guillaume) Eek, Thomas (Abigail) Holcomb, Rachel Holcomb, and Colleen Holcomb; seven great-grandchildren, Sidney, Norman, Anna, Henry, Nathaniel, Dorothy, and Robin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Avis, Dan was preceded in death by his parents; son, Henry Holcomb; and three sisters, Dolores Jones, Beverly Bentley, and Sharon Cook. SERVICES will be 4:00 PM Saturday, March 14, 2026 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with VISITATION from 2-4 PM on Saturday.
