Mr. Daniel G. Kapson's Obituary
Mr. Daniel G. Kapson, age 90, passed away Friday, February 06, 2015 in Muskegon. He was born in Detroit, MI on February 22, 1924 to John and Anna (Pavliny) Kapson. Dan was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps where he served as a sergeant with the 401st Bomb Group during WWII. He had worked nearly 39 years as a sales manager for Philip Morris before retiring in 1985. Dan was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and was formerly a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Grand Rapids. He was a long-time member of the White Lake Country Club; he loved golfing and had two holes-in-one. Dan enjoyed fishing, playing and watching sports, and playing music. During his retirement, Dan played the clarinet in the Muskegon Symphonic Band. On February 22, 1947, Dan married the former Julia A. Sladovnik in St. Louis, MI, and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2011. He is survived by his children, Susan Averill and John (Jean) Kapson; one granddaughter, Stephanie Averill; one brother-in-law, Ed (Shirley) Sladovnik; one sister-in-law, Ann Linsday, and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Green and Betty Jagusch. SERVICES will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. William Uetricht officiating. VISITATION will be from 4-7 PM Monday at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., 231-759-8565.
