Daniel R. Knight Sr's Obituary
Mr. Daniel Raymond Knight Sr, age 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 2, 2023. He was born November 26, 1946 to Harry and Hazel (Graves) Knight in Grand Rapids, MI. After graduating high school, Dan enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He proudly served his country while stationed overseas until he was Honorably Discharged in 1969. When Dan returned to the States he moved to Illinois and lived there for about 15 years. Dan drove truck and enjoyed visiting the many new places it took him. He eventually came back to West Michigan and married the former Cindy Galbreath in 1997. Dan enjoyed spending as much time as he could outdoors, fishing, camping, and boating. He could also be found sitting on his front porch waving at the cars that passed by, putzing around the neighborhood in his golf cart, or cruising around town with his family in his Mustang convertible GT. He loved his beloved dogs, Archie, Snoopy, and most recently, Molly. Most of all, Dan loved his family and cherished the time spent with them, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed deeply by his wife, Cindy; children, Dan (Jenni) Knight Jr, Mike Knight, Mitzi Knight, Eddie Knight, and bonus daughter, Jessica Barbour; grandchildren, Max (Riley) Knight, Joe Knight, Ben Knight, Addie Knight, Logan Knight, and Jayleana Miyatt; two great-grandchildren, Raelynn and Jacy; siblings, Donna Knight, Lora (Dave) Workman, Rick (Tricia) Knight, and Lee (John) Glass. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Joellen and Amy. A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be held 3:00PM, Saturday, April 15 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 – 3:00PM. Please feel free to share a memory online at www.sytsemafh.com.
