Daniel A. "Dan" Lake's Obituary
Daniel Arthur “Dan” Lake, age 76, was born in Muskegon, MI on May 12, 1948, the son of Richard and Mildred Lake, and died in Estero, FL on February 4, 2025. Dan graduated from North Muskegon High School in 1966. He enlisted in the Navy, and served on the aircraft carrier, USS Intrepid, for four years. He married Susan Holtrop on December 18, 1971. They just celebrated 53 years of marriage. Dan graduated from Michigan State University (Go Spartans!) and taught elementary grades for Hastings Public Schools for 25 years, retiring in 2002.
Dan loved being outdoors, whether it was in Florida or Michigan, summer or winter. Fishing was enjoyed on Upper Herring Lake, Lake Michigan, Canada, and especially in the Florida Keys. In the winter, he enjoyed ice fishing and especially snowmobiling. His special place was the tree farm—how he enjoyed the time spent there cutting firewood and deer hunting. Randy and Adam spent many hours with Dan in swamps and marshes or duck and goose hunting.
Dan is survived by his wife, Susan; son, Randy (Priscilla); grandson, Aiden; brother, David (Joyce); and sister, Pamela. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Adam.
