Daniel M. MacLaren's Obituary
Mr. Daniel Miles MacLaren, age 72, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in Muskegon. He was born on May 2, 1939 in Muskegon to Delbert and Myrtle (Stitt) MacLaren, and resided in the area all of his life. Dan worked at E.H. Sheldon for 17 years as a cabinet maker, before working at Twin Lake Elementary School for 17 years as a custodian. Dan was a member and Trustee of First Wesleyan Church in Muskegon. He was an avid Detroit Tiger fan, and a master gardener. On August 28, 1964 Dan married the former Marcia Smith and together celebrated 47 years together. SURVIVORS include his wife Marcia; 2 children, Danielle (Dale) Bucy of Muskegon and Scott (Michelle) MacLaren of Gallup, New Mexico; he was a loving “Boppa” to his 4 grandchildren, Katrina Bucy, Dailyn Bucy, Douglas MacLaren, and Alexander Miles Bucy; 2 sisters, Hazel Johnston and Inez (Alvin) McCastle; in-laws, Chrystal MacLaren, Lorraine MacLaren, Georgia (Beert) Kamphorst, Lane (Elaine) Smith, Craig (Teri) Smith and Brenda (Rev. Kenneth) Dykhoff. Dan was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorville, Bryce, Samuel Delbert “Jeff”, Blanche Lindsay, and twin brother, Douglas. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be 11AM Saturday at First Wesleyan Church (1040 East Forest St.) with Pastors Mike Schultz and Kenneth Dykhoff officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 726-5210. Memorial Contributions to First Wesleyan Church will be appreciated.
