Daniel N. Cole's Obituary
Daniel “Dan” N. Cole, age 63, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, in Muskegon after a short illness. He was born on June 18, 1960, in Phenix City, Alabama to Daniel H. and Beverly (Miller) Cole. He graduated from Oakridge High School in 1978 and studied at Baker College.
Dan worked as a radio DJ in the Muskegon area for decades. He could be heard on channels including Classic Hits 98.3 WLCS, Rock 101.7 WMRR, Sunny FM, and WKBZ under his DJ names “Neal Elliott” and “DC”. After leaving the airways he entered radio sales and enjoyed that role for many years. Music, concerts, and radio were more than just a career to him, they were his life. Dan had an equal passion for the Detroit Lions and had hoped to witness a Super Bowl win.
Dan’s daughter and his granddaughters, especially Mackenzie, were the great joys of his life. His love of music, which transcended all genres, was deeply instilled in each of ‘his girls’ who will lovingly carry on that appreciation.
He is survived by his spouse, Dena; daughter, Jenna (Rodney) Bench; beloved grandchildren, Mackenzie, Stella, Coralee, Brody, and Addison; brother, William “Mark” Cole; sisters, Gina Conley, DeAnna (Rodney) Bowling, and Cathy (Michael) Carter; also by many nieces and nephews, along with a host of long-time friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his devoted, Aunt Shirley and Uncle Stanley Elliott; and many other extended family members.
A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be announced at a later date. Share memories with the family online at www.sytsemafh.com. Arrangements by The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave. Muskegon, MI 49442 (231) 726-5210.
