Daniel "Scott" Smith's Obituary
Daniel “Scott” Smith, age 67, passed away Peacefully, Sunday evening, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 20, 1948 in Muskegon to Fred J. and Anna M. (Fortuna) Smith; and had resided most of his life in the White Lake area. Scott had been a chemical supervisor for Hooker Chemical and E.I. DuPont prior to his retirement in 2006. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church of Montague and of the White Lake Eagles. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and boating; and was capable of building all the family homes. On April 21, 1967 he married the former Leann A. Machovsky and she survives him along with 3 children, Chaddwic (Tamera) Smith of DeWitt, MI, Shauna (William) Karchinski of Whitehall and Anessa (Adam) Ruscitti of Belvidere, IL; 11 grandchildren, Jordon, Michael, Jacob, Braydon and Sophia Smith; Austin McGee, Jason and Molly Karchinski; Alexander, Bella and Vincenzo Ruscitti; his twin brother and best friend, Pat Smith, brother, Fred (Judy) Smith; 2 sisters, Jan Marie Smith and Timmy Sue (Mark) Puisis; his mother-in-law, Leatrice Machovsky; brother-in-law, Frank Machovsky and 2 sisters-in-law, Sharyl (Bart) Oliver and Jill (John) Mastee; and by his best furry friend, Tippa. Scott was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Frank Machovsky and sister-in-law, Kay Horvath. A MEMORIAL MASS will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, October 24, 2015 at St. James Catholic Church, 5149 Dowling St, Montague, MI 49437 with the Rev. Fr. Peter Ogomo and Rev. Fr. Donn Tufts, concelebrating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Cemetery, Rothbury, MI. VISITATION with Scott’s family will be 5-8:00 PM Friday and 10-11:00AM Saturday at the Church, where THE ROSARY will be prayed 7:30PM Friday. For a more lasting memorial, you are asked to consider St. James Knights of Columbus Auxiliary; Our Lady of Assumption Cemetery Fund or Harbor Hospice.
