Mr. Daniel J. "Danny" Zahrt's Obituary
Daniel J. “Danny” Zahrt, age 79, passed away at home on Sunday, November 1, 2015. He was born on April 17, 1936 to William and Ethel (Gates) Zahrt in Muskegon. On October 14, 1961, Danny married the love of his life, Nancy Bow. They would go on to welcome two children, Tina Marie and Carla Jean. Danny spent over 20 years working at Quality Plating in Muskegon before he retired in 1991. Danny was an avid motorsports enthusiast and spent many years of his life driving his son-in-law and grandson to demolition derbies all around Michigan and nearby states. Daniel was also a true Detroit Tigers fan. Win or lose, you could find him all season long sitting in his chair watching the game. Though he was deaf for the majority of his life, he never let that stop him from enjoying the things he loved most. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather as well as a beloved brother, uncle, and friend. Danny is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Zahrt; daughters, Tina (Garry Workman) England, Carla Cline; best friend and little brother, James (Sandy) Zahrt; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel Zahrt; and his grandson, T.C. Lehtinen. A memorial gathering for Danny will be held at First Wesleyan Church (1040 E. Forest Ave., Muskegon) on November 21, 2015 at 2 pm. The family welcomes you to join them and share a story in celebration of Danny’s life. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations in Nancy Zahrt’s name to any Huntington Bank branch to assist with funeral and living expenses. Arrangements entrusted to The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100). Feel free to share a memory with the family at www.sytsemafh.com.
