Daniel C. Elliott's Obituary
On November 14, 2009, after a long illness, Daniel Clark Elliott was freed to join his family that had gone before him. He was born April 9, 1934 in Rapid City, MI to Wilford “Jim” and Alida (Van) Elliott. Daniel was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in the Korean War. He was also retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve after service from 1973-1991. He worked as an operator at the B.C. Cobb Power Plant for 16 years and retired in 1989 from the State of Michigan after working maintenance. On May 5, 1989, he married the former Anne Valliere in Muskegon and she survives him. He was a life member of the Don Rea Post VFW #8846, Whitehall American Legion and FRA. Daniel also enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, visiting casinos and traveling. SURVIVORS include his wife, Anne; 4 daughters, Denise (Gary) Treesh of Muskegon, Linda (Michael) Parker of Muskegon, Patricia (Wallace) Deitz of North Carolina, Dana (Frank) Carnes of Muskegon; 2 step-sons, William (Trisha) Nixon of Muskegon and Joseph (Tasha) Bullock of Muskegon; 8 grandchildren, Daniel (Erica Carlisle) Baker, James Botko, Johnny Botko, Joshua Parker, Samantha (Mike) Delgado, Patrick McChesney, Tommy Elliott, Travis (Rita Grewal) Carnes; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way; 8 step-grandchildren; step-father, Merton Tyler of Brethren; father-in-law, Robert Valliere of Florida; 1 brother, Basil Elliott of Muskegon; 2 half-brothers, Keith (Mary) Tyler of Grand Rapids, Steven Tyler of Brethren; and the mother of his children, Darlene Elliott of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and 1 step-daughter. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue (231) 726-5210 with the Rev. John Brown officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Clearwater Township Cemetery in Kalkaska, MI. VISITATION with Daniel’s family will be 4-7 PM Tuesday.
