Mr. Dann Thomas VanBergen's Obituary
Mr. Dann Thomas VanBergen, age 77, passed away Friday morning, March 8, 2019 at the Poppen Residence. Dann was born September 2, 1941 in Muskegon to Anthony and Maxine (Close) VanBergen. He married the former Shelby J. Martin on September 7, 1985 and she preceded him in death on December 6, 2010. Dann had worked for Almond Products for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Dann loved watching NASCAR, Thunderbird Raceway races, and street rod nights at Mr. Quick’s. He also enjoyed collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia. He is survived by his sister, Jean Hentschel; several sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Shelby, Dann was preceded in death by his parents; mother, Aileen Close-VanBergen; brother; Michael and brother-in-law, Melvin. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100, with Rev. Fr. Michael Olson presiding. Entombment will be made in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (10-11 AM). In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to The Noah Project.
