Darlene L. Boyer's Obituary
Mrs. Darlene L. Boyer, age 76, of Grand Haven passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013. She was born January 9, 1937 in Muskegon to Lyle and Violet (Schoch) Kiel.
On September 21, 1957 she married Jack Boyer. Darlene had a love for music. She enjoyed ballroom dancing with the love of her life and only dance partner Jack. She also enjoyed singing with the Sweet Adelines, attending concerts at the Grand Rapids Symphony, as well as teaching piano lessons and line dancing with her friends. Darlene loved spending time at her cottage, where she enjoyed skiing and sailing with her family. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven, where she served as a deacon, member of the choir and hand bell choir. She believed that every day is a gift and should be lived to the fullest.
Darlene is survived by 4 children: Mike (Leandrea) Boyer of Lake Orion, MI, Brian (Sandra) Boyer of Walker, Debbie (Jeff) Ott of Spring Lake, Linda (Jeff) Skinner of Grand Haven; 10 grandchildren: Micah and Mac Boyer, Casey, Zach and Nate Boyer, Johannah, Jacson and Jamerson Ott, Nicholas and Jessica Skinner, a brother, Louis (Earlaine) Kiel; a sister, Marilyn (Jim) Shingleton; and a brother-in-law, Frank (Billie) Boyer. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband Jack W. Boyer, her parents Lyle and Violet Kiel and infant son Keith Allen Boyer.
Funeral Services for Darlene will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 30, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Dr. Thomas Cook officiating. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven and also 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Interment will take place in Historic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Darlene may be given to First Presbyterian Church Carillon Hand Bell Choir.
