Darlene M. Gue's Obituary
Darlene M. Gue, age 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, May 5, 2025. She was born on September 1, 1949, in Dowagiac, MI, to Lawrence and Aurilla “Billie” (VanDenover) Gordon.
Darlene dedicated 37 years to caring for children through her business, Darlene’s Day Care, retiring in 2010. She had a deep love for her family, especially her grandchildren, and found great joy in traveling across the United States—Bryce Canyon holding a special place in her heart.
A longtime member of First Church of the Nazarene in Muskegon, Darlene served as a youth leader and Sunday School teacher. More recently, she attended Evangelical Covenant Church in Whitehall, where she was known for cooking meals for the Work Camp Crew.
Darlene was a gifted cook and baker, sharing her talents with many—including the Whitehall Football Team, the Oceana County 4H Horse Clubs, and several local groups. An avid reader, Darlene shared her love of literature by donating many books from her personal library to several Little Libraries around Whitehall and volunteered at Shoreline Elementary by helping 1st and 2nd graders build their reading skills.
On December 16, 1967, she married William Gue in Muskegon, and together they shared 57 wonderful years.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Bill; their children, Melissa (Greg) Throne and Bill (Traci) Gue, Jr.; grandchildren, Lauren (Michael) Bonner, Nolan (Sydney) Throne, Nathan Gue, and Katie Gue; and her brother, Eric (Renae) Gordon. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Linda and Doreen Gordon.
