Darlene J. "Dar" Healey-Burghduf's Obituary
Mrs. Darlene Jayne Healey-Burghduf, age 49, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2007, after a valiant struggle against cancer. She was born May 11, 1957 to Betty Jane Healey here in Muskegon. Darlene was a life-long resident of the area and especially loved the dunes and beaches of Lake Michigan. On October 16, 1976, she married Robert Burghduf in Muskegon. Dar was past president of the Humane Society and Animal Rescue of Muskegon and was a member of that organization for over 25 years. She enjoyed dealing in antiques and had a natural gift as a photographer. Classical music was a large part of her life and Blue Lake Public Radio gave her life rich and beautiful background music literally every day. Darlene was the manager of Tempo Fashions in Muskegon for 10 years and had also worked for an environmental consulting firm; however, she gave up her management career to pursue her love of Interior Design at Kendall College of Art and Design. Then, 8 years ago, she and her husband adopted their daughter, Piper, and Dar devoted her life to raising her daughter. Darlene is SURVIVED by her husband, Robert; her daughter, Piper; her mother, Betty Jane Healey; her brothers, Pat Healey, Mike (Ann) Healey and Chris (Mari) Healey; her father-in-law, Robert Burghduf, Sr. and mother-in-law, Carole Burghduf, all of Muskegon; many nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
